Put a twin bed in the corner.. up against the wall..

rather than a dresser..

put the mirror from the dresser on the wall.. another words.. big mirrors ....U can buy them at home depot etc.. 4x6

If u hang pictures.. don't use huge ones.. no bigger than 11x13

hope this helps.. santa is coming,, I have to wrap gifts

Merry ChristmasBesides painting my room a light color what can I do to make it look bigger?
Low level light, but from many sources, often helps. The multiple beams of light help fool the eye by adding layers of dimension.

Broad vertical stripes can also make a room look larger... 1 foot wide at least, but not much bigger than 2 feet.

If stripes make you nervous, you can try using two colors that are very close to being the same, or the same color, but alternating between matte and gloss. The matte and gloss effect is very subtle, but still effective.

It isn't easy to pick a color, since too light will make the walls seem closer to you, too dark and it becomes a cave. So muted colors, medium-light would be best.

As mentioned, be sure to paint your ceiling... not white, for the same reasons. Try a shade or two off of your wall color.
Hang your curtains on a decorative rod as close as you can to the ceiling, with the curtains going all the way down to the floor; this makes the ceilings appear much higher. Plus - mirrors and lamps help somewhat. And, make sure that your furniture isn't too large for the space b/c then it will feel to cramped and instantly shrink the room.
take things out of it. make sure you can SEE the walls - don't have stuff shoved up against all of them. put your clothes/dresser, etc. somewhere else - hall closet, laundry room. put mirrors across from windows. use big furniture, not wimpy stuff. put a big area/throw rug - don't be scared %26amp; put something like a remnant. just one bedside table. avoid small prints. popcorn... uh, i don't know how to fix that
Mirrors and using small scale furniture, for example, a standard double or daybed rather than a queen size, or- in a living room- a love seat rather than a sectional, etc.
Make the ceiling white, light colours for the walls and mirrors on at least 2 of the 4 walls. Have a table lamp near the mirrors and do not use an overhead light.
supposedly putting a mirror behind a lamp helps. or painting the ceiling a lighter color than the walls.
MIRRORS.

and lights.
