Bright Blue Kitchen Uh oh...Color to paint cabinets?

I painted the walls in my kitchen and the paint turned out darker than expected. It is a much brighter Tiffany's %26amp; Co blue than I expected. I need to tone the blue down but don't want to repaint the kitchen. How do I tone down the bright blue paint ? Do I paint my cabinets if so what color would make the blue appear lighter and easier on the eyes?

I'd go with white too. Blue and white always looks fresh and clean which is good in a kitchen. If you get some darker blue or other strong coloured accents in the room, the blue on the walls won't stand out so much. Curtains, art, colourful dishes or glassware, place mats, even some of the coloured small appliances they have now. I got a $20 turquoise toaster at Home Depot that I just love. Yellow, green, red, purple, whichever you like, they all go with blue and white, but if what you ended up with is a sort of teal colour, then choose reds that are on the orange end of red, and if you choose a purple, make sure it's about the same intensity as the 'Tiffany'; colour, like maybe more of a mauve. Go to the paint store again and get more paint chips of colours that go well with your wall colour, and take them with you when you shop for things.Bright Blue Kitchen Uh oh...Color to paint cabinets?
Unfortunately, when you choose a color based on a paint chip, it almost always comes out much darker than you hoped. And, the only way to make it lighter is to re-paint it. However, there is the option of putting a faux finish on it. This is where you get a can of opaque glaze and apply that by dabbing it on with a sea sponge (you can find both at paint or home improvement stores). The faux glaze texture lightens up the color and gives it a kind of rustic looking surface.

Here's a surface that shows what I mean: http://www.artisandp.com/images/fullsize鈥?/a>

Note that it started out a sea foam green and the faux glaze finish really lightens it up.
White, it's neutral and it will look crisp and clean.
Hot pink.
