What color to paint a patio door?

I am installing a new patio door and have no idea what color to paint it. My house is traditional... almost cottage. The back is cedar shingles painted a creamy brown, with cream colored trim and black shutters. I am thinking about painting the shutters navy. I thought about painting the door the same color as the trim, or painting it the same color as the shingles and the trim cream, like my garage doors. I also considered painting it the same color as the shutters.


Any ideas from someone with a decorator's eye?

Since ur house looks like a cottage you can go for black or brown for all wood works. Black suits well rather than brown. but both has the same attractive nature. Even you can choose furnitures in the same color. instead of going for some different colors, you can use same colors for all types of wooden works. My home too looks traditional but not like cottage. I went through many sites for choosing furnitures, but some were not so attractive. Later, i bought new attractive decors for my house.
