I bought a dark orange couch for my livingroom. What color paint would look best with it?

I thought of going with a light gray color or a light black and I also thought of going with a gray-blue color paint. My tv entertainment center is black and I plan on buying black coffee and end tables as well as a black chair so that's why I thought maybe gray would look good. My floors are wood floors as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated!I bought a dark orange couch for my livingroom. What color paint would look best with it?
I would paint the walls either a light rattan colour (if you want the couch and tables to stand out equally), or light gray (no blue) to help the black blend in a bit more, and reduce the orange-black ';shock factor,'; making the couch more of a focal point. If you really want to make the couch pop, then you go the the exact opposite side of the colour wheel, which would be blue.

My personal choice would be light gray -- it has a more upscale look and keeps the couch more ';metropolitan'; rather that ';back to the 70's.:

Check out this designer room -- it has an orange couch, very dark tables, and light gray walls...

Wowza! I would never have the guts to buy an orange couch....

I did however have an orange slip cover on my couch for a while. I did a million things with the walls. Here are colors that compliment orange (in my opinion).

steel gray

taupe

brown

cobalt blue

I don't know about black and orange together. Too Halloween, you know? You can always paint your black furniture....
I would use benjamin moore china white for all trim. It will really make the color 'pop' and look great!
It's sounds like you're going too 2-tone. You need to get a little more variety in there. Think of the orange as a neutral. Pop it with teal throw pillows, or cucumber green silk curtains. Or if you want the orange to be dominant, try white walls with shiny white side tables.
a pale silver color, not too gray would look good
gray would look the best.

I think, that I would choose a light peach color. That would go with the dark orange couch, and the black tables as well.
You should play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the ';painted'; rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

You might like a color called ';Pavestone.'; It's a medium shade of gray that I think would highlight the orange beautifully.
I think a color with brown hues would look great with an orange couch. And don't worry about the brown and black clashing. We have a chocolate brown couch and a black coffee table (they came as a set) and the color work together! Good luck!
