I'm redoing my house and the whole kitchen is new. I'm having black laquer counters and cupboards, and I have all stainless steel appliances, I am color defient and need help choosing a color that might look good? someone recommended a 'crocodile green' but im open to suggestions. and whats a good livingroom color ? thank you alot
jessyNeed some advise what color to paint my kitchen?
For starters the crocodile green will be too dark. With the black you will feel like you are in cave.
You have black and silver.
It will be easy to match the black so you can have you choice.
Think of your favourite colour . Use it for the walls(not dark) remember it has to be bright,.or soft light . Sage is a great green option
to soften pick a taupe (which will come with the under tone of you favourite colour) Like instead of summer yellow which is bright you can use the warmer tone of wheat or a butter cream. Than accent with complementary colour. Check out some magazines and pick what you love Bathrooms and Kitchens is a good oneNeed some advise what color to paint my kitchen?
I think a pale silvery sage green would be cool and modern with your black and stainless kitchen. You could also try a pale icy blue. After you choose a color for the kitchen, pick a color that is a few shades darker for the living room to tie the two rooms together.
Good luck!
I understand how you feel, the good thing is that stainless steel goes with all colors . My favorite chose of color for smaller areas like a kitchen are colors like sand, light peach, cream, off white, sky blue. The reason for this is light colors that always makes the kitchen seem larger. Colors like dark green would make your kitchen look smaller. Also if you use natural paint colors like sand and light blue these colors have been shown to have a relaxing effect. Good luck and best wishes for your paint choice!
With really bold colors already like black and stainless steel something that is also modern but warm at the same time might be nice. Red (think marinara red) is a hot kitchen color these days. Or for kitchens yellow is always and old stand by...and there are so many shades to choose from!
Green hides dirt, stains, and ketchup stains well unlike all other colors. I would recommend this. Don't use white.
Jessy, you need to stay white on the walls here as you have enough contrasts with the Black %26amp; Stainless . . . any color outside white(s) will sharply define space and close you in.
Living room color would depend on furnishings, floor covering and lifestyle. Whatever color(s) you choose, always use an eggshell on your walls and flat ceiling white on your ceilings. Eggshell will be subtle and elegant in pretty much any color you choose. I prefer to use oil based paints on all my trim such as casings and doors. Oil will not only give you unequalled durability, but a sheen and look like what you see in magazines such as Architectural Digest and Better Homes %26amp; Gardens.

I DON'T KNOW WHY BUT LATELY IVE GROWN TO THESE COLORS TOGETHER, CHOCOLATE BROWN , TAN , AND
CREAM (COUNTRY WHITE)
Although green is my favorite color, I recently read in Martha Stewart that the best colors for a kitchen are those from the warm side. Apparently they make food look more appealing. Think apple pie, spaghetti, macaroni and cheese...
What about a nice eye popping limey green (with a more yellow undertone so that its on the warmer side) and then you can paint your living room a nice deep shade of taupe/brown. I think that this is a great combo.
You could also paint your kitchen a tangy burnt orange/red -- but you don't want it to look like halloween all year round.....
Or you could go grey, but then what type of undertone??blue, purplish. Or a putty type color.
I am suggesting that you stay on the warm side of the color wheel. Or if choosing from the cool side, choose the colors with warmer undertones.
