What interior color paint b4 I put house up for sale?

The drapes are 95'; long and pool nicely on the new laminate wood floor. The window is 136'; across. The 4 end drapes have a copper panel from top to 1/3 down and the rest is antique gold. The two middle panels are solid antique gold. I have crown molding that I'm going to paint white. I'd like an elegant look. What color to paint the walls? I have an inset wall thats very short. What about red on the short wall? And what color for the rest of the room. I'd like something striking and appealing before I put it up for sale. The crown molding will be white. Can you give me suggestions? The room is 15x25; the window is on the 25' long and gets the western sun. Thanks for your thoughts. What interior color paint b4 I put house up for sale?
First off -many have recommended beige -WRONG.Copper tones oranges, yellows and golds conflict with beige .Beige has pink undertones .You need something with yellow undertones I'm going to suggest Something along the lines of Benjamin Moores golden honey #297 or fresh butter #290 for the walls for the inset you can use Moroccan red #1309 it will match either of the suggested colors.Keeping the major walls more of a neutral is suggested for resale .a small accent color with a red will show well and even if it doesn't coordinate with the buyers furnishing its not a large amount to repaint.Good luck in selling the home. You can take a look at the colors at benjaminmoore.comWhat interior color paint b4 I put house up for sale?
something striking and appealing to you, may be a huge turn-off to a potential buyer. Just go with plain champagne beige or off-white on all the walls. Or go to a builder's model home in your area and duplicate their builder's wall colors in your home. There are differences in what colors work best in different regions. On the inset wall, you could do a slightly darker shade of the neutral wall color.
Gardinia, its a BS400 colour so you should be able to get it made up in any make you like, im a professional decorator and the only colour that is used for house sales now is this colour, its like the new magnolia, trust me on this its a non offensive colour and it looks lovely
Decorating is a matter of taste and what sounds beautiful wouldn't be appealing to someone else. Talk to your real estate agent before you go ahead and do a lot of work. I'd have to say an off-white, just like those apartments we all rented.
stay away from bright and dark colors.

red would be a bad choice.

go for more neutrals, because it appeals to more people and wont scare away the ones that are afraid of color/too lazy to repaint.
Try HGTV.
Something neutral like beige?
Listen to Nocine she knows her stuff!
You would be surprised at how many people would find red to be too shocking. You have to give the buyer a visual of the home if they lived there....because most people don't have enough of an imagination to see it differently or how they would have it painted. Stay away from the red. I would choose a warm and inviting creamy tan/light coffee/champagne color....you could also do a darker color on the inset wall but keep it in the same color family and not too different from the color in the rest of the room....just enough to be noticed. I like striking colors and for my home to look different from others...unfortunately I don't think there are many of us out there.
Hi Dove,

You would want it to appeal to as many buyers as possible... I would stay away from strong colors like red %26amp; go with the more neutral colors that would match most all decors %26amp; colors. Most likely the buyers may want to change the drapes to match their furniture or the furniture %26amp; drapes they already have. A warm, lighter shade of gold, an off-white, yellows, or beige colors would be pleasant with the white crown molding %26amp; would match most decors. Bring home some paint strips from the stores. I would stay with the warmer, light shades. Light shades make rooms appear larger %26amp; brighter %26amp; the warmer tones make them feel cozy. Best to you on getting your house sold!

check out/read the comments towards the bottom of the page link above regarding tones... specifically #8 %26amp; #22 answers #8's question. Just bring home those paint strips %26amp; match them up to your floor! (See which color would go well with the flooring in your room.)

added: I like the below ideas of painting the inset wall a darker shade of the main wall colors.

When you go to your next house, you could red. I believe that one coat of primer will cover any paint color %26amp; most ppl will primer anyway cuz it means less coats of any color to cover what's existing.
NO RED!!!!!

Not only is red not everyone's taste, you are dooming the new owner to hours of work if they want to repaint. Houses with brightly colored walls are harder to sell.

When you sell a house, you don't want striking, you want something neutral everyone can see themselves living with.

Paint the whole room one neutral color. Since you have copper drapes, I would go with a warm beige like Benajmin Moore Wellesley Bluff or Mushroom Cap.
