We have oak cabinets that are almost 20 years old and have taken on a yellow/red hue to them. At the time of installation they were quite cheap and definitely look like it! We're doing some re-decorating and can't afford new ones so we thought painting would do the trick! We have creamy walls, almond appliances, white counter tops, and are going to get wood floors. We're hoping to go for an old world look but don't want it to be too dark or too much. Any ideas!?What color to paint cabinets!?!?!?!?
Wood color finishing is a natural choice if you are trying to refresh the look of an old cabinet. But if you are trying to match it to the look of new flooring, you may want to try a white theme. It is a great way to lighten up the look of your room, and make it look new.
Hope this helps

I would go with maroon or just burnt orange, that would look great on your almond appli and white counter, it will also contrast it making it look traditional yet modern. you could add black and red accessories in your kitchen like flowers, cherries or paintings etc
Have you thought of using one of the new coloured wood coatings that let the grain show through? They come in lots of shades of brown, and there are brighter colours too. I would think the green or the blue would go well with the rest of the room.
yu can look how i painted my cabinets in my kitchen on my website. just click on the remodels page and scroll down to find my old, 1970 cabinets that i painted cream with chocolate glaze www.pinnacleremodelingpro.com
